Huntington Bank’s recent honor from Bank Director Magazine shows the financial institution’s commitment.
Earlier this week, Huntington announced that it had been recognized as the country’s second top performing publicly traded bank. Bank Director Magazine gave Huntington this rating as part of its 2012 Bank Performance Scorecard.
Chad Prather, Huntington’s community president of Morgantown, said the report looks at three categories — the profitability, capital strength and asset quality of banks — and breaks up those groupings into subcategories.
Using results from 2011, the study examines the banks across the United States, separating the entities from biggest to smallest using four asset categories. In total, 467 institutions were ranked this year.
The magazine reviewed 19 different banks in the category of $50 billion or more in assets. Out of those financial institutions, which represent the biggest banks in the country, Huntington finished second, Prather said.
