FAIRMONT —
The Marion County Commission has proclaimed Feb. 17-22 as “Save Face ... Stop Spit Tobacco” week in Marion County.
The week aims to raise awareness and education about the perils of using spit tobacco, said Beverly Keener, Tobacco Prevention Regional Coordinator with the State DHHR Division of Tobacco Prevention.
When the campaign started 20 years ago, it was called “Through with Chew.” Then, West Virginia was the number-one state in the nation for adult male use of spit tobacco.
