FAIRMONT —
Two Marion County men were arrested Friday and both charged with armed robbery in the first degree and conspiracy to commit a felony.
According to the criminal complaint filed in the Marion County Magistrate Court, Erick Jones, 18, of 1008 Old Monongah Road, Fairmont, and Reginald Standard, 19, of 303 Hamilton St., Fairmont, were arrested following an armed robbery last Thursday on Rose Avenue, Fairmont.
Standard was found in the vicinity of the robbery site. During a Terry frisk, officers found what appeared to be a small firearm, which was actually a knife/lighter designed to look like a firearm. They also found property belonging to the victim, who also positively identified Standard on scene as the male who robbed him at gunpoint.
At the police station, Standard allegedly admitted to producing the knife as if it were a firearm and taking the victim’s property. He also allegedly named Erick Jones as a co-conspirator in the robbery.
On Friday, Jones came to the police station to discuss his role in the event, when he was read and explained his Miranda rights and provided police a verbal statement. He allegedly said he had conspired with Standard to rob the victim with a knife designed to look like a firearm, and told Standard where the victim was so Standard could rob him. He was placed in custody for conspiracy to commit a felony and robbery in the first degree.
Both are lodged in the North Central Regional Jail.
