FAIRMONT — For most of the working world, Friday is likely the most anticipated day of the week. After four days of work, Friday is a chance to finish off the week’s duties and launch into a (hopefully) care-free weekend.
Depending on the Friday, though, finding an activity to celebrate the weekend may be difficult. Local community organizers have worked to ensure that, once a month, that won’t be an issue.
Fairmont’s First Friday Arts and Music Series continued on Friday along Madison Street between Adams and Jefferson Street, offering local artists, authors, musicians, magicians and organizations an opportunity to show off their contributions to the city’s cultural landscape.
“We’re trying to ... make sure that the people of Fairmont know that there’s someplace to go that’s not a drive to Morgantown or Pittsburgh in order to see a band or see some local artists,” said Tom Conley, creative director for the event.
