Moving to the beat

Busy Bee Band hopes to inspire flash mob at Friday’s game

FAIRMONT — A catchy dance number has caught the eye of East Fairmont High School.

The dance employs elements of the Macarena and the Twist, but it will be far cooler looking when a flash mob of Bees’ students, teachers, staff, alumni and others move to the beat in unison during the big home game against University High School Friday. When the band starts playing “I Gotta Feeling,” spectators will be encouraged to join the band at the drum/sousaphone halftime break.

“Our goal is to have everyone in the stadium break into the dance,” said T.J. Bean, EFHS Busy Bee Band director. “We hope to have the support of teachers, students, alumni, families — even the opposing side — everyone dancing and having a good time together.”

Hips will be moving. There is a tomahawk-looking move for those familiar with Atlanta Braves baseball. Throw in a couple of spins, maybe a jump or two, and there you have it.
