Women helping women.
That’s the goal Community Health Advisors (CHA), a new program sponsored by the American Cancer Society that aims to train women to share the news about cancer screenings with women in their community.
The program is offered in 10 locations across the U.S., all in southern states, and in two areas in West Virginia: northern (Marion, Harrison and Lewis counties) and the south (Boone, Logan and Mingo counties).
“This peer education program finds women in the community to train about cancer and resources, while reaching out to women they know to talk about breast, cervical and colorectal cancer,” said Kathy Molnar, CHA manager with West Virginia ACS.
