FAIRMONT —
Eddie Jack Washington and Phillip Reese Bush each has been indicted on three counts of murder in the first degree and conspiracy to commit a felony in the 1974 triple Windmill Park homicides by a special Marion County grand jury Friday.
Washington had been arrested Feb. 7 in Tampa, Fla., on the murder charges. He was extradited from the Oriental Road Jail in Tampa to the North Central Regional jail in Doddridge County on thursday morning.
Bush, 64, is serving two life sentences without mercy at the Mt. Olive Correctional Complex in Fayette County for the double homicides of Charles Goff and Kathleen Jane Williams, both of Morgantown, on Sept. 19, 1982, in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairmont, not far from Windmill Park. He was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder in March 1983 by a jury in Wheeling. Taking only 75 minutes to bring the verdict, they recommended life in prison without mercy.
He had previously served time in prison on a rape charge in Fairmont in the mid-1970s.
According to a search of the West Virginia Division of Corrections Friday afternoon, Bush is an active inmate at Mt. Olive Correctional Center.
