Pierpont focuses on building image

Faculty intent on helping all students get on the fast track toward a good career

FAIRMONT — Community and technical colleges across the state and the country face challenges when it comes to making the public aware of their purpose and identity.

President of Pierpont Community & Technical College, Doreen Larson, said that, oftentimes, students and their families don’t realize the difference between a community college and a four-year university.

“In West Virginia especially, because community colleges are so new, not a lot of people understand what they are yet,” Larson said. “They think we’re just a different flavor of a university.”

And that’s why Pierpont pays very special attention to promoting its individual image.

    According to records obtained at the Marion County Circuit Court, a hearing for Eddie Jack Washington and Phillip Reese Bush is set for 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, in front of Circuit Judge Michael Aloi.
