FAIRMONT — A suspect charged with holding up the High Life Lounge on Fairmont’s East Side several weeks ago was arrested and arraigned Monday afternoon.
Farmington resident Roy Franklin Hillberry II, 31, stands accused of pulling a semi-automatic handgun on an employee and a patron at the East Side establishment on the morning of July 15 and leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash.
He has been charged with felony first-degree robbery and was arraigned by Marion County Magistrate Hank Middlemas Monday afternoon, where he requested a preliminary hearing. Hillberry’s bond was set at $75,000 cash or surety and he was housed at North Central Regional Jail as of press time Monday night.
The incident, which occurred at around 10 a.m. on July 15, was caught on surveillance footage and viewed by several Fairmont police officers, who identified the suspect as a white male with a thin mustache and little to no hair. The footage shows that Hillberry entered the establishment through the front door, turned to his left and put on a pair of dark sunglasses. When he turned back around, he was pointing a semi-automatic handgun to the bartender and instructed her to get money out of the bar’s safe.
