CLARKSBURG — Federal Judge Irene M. Keeley questioned the “moral compass” of a woman who pleaded guilty to attempting to cheat a now-deceased elderly Fairmont woman out of more than $20,000 last year before sentencing her to nearly two years in prison in U.S. District Court Friday.
Grafton resident Teri Elaine Trickett Zuspan, 52, pleaded guilty in September to one count of a multiple-count federal indictment alleging that she conspired with her soon-to-be-ex-husband, 53-year-old Eric Wayne Zuspan, also of Grafton, in an attempt to swindle money from the ill woman.
Trickett was the caretaker of the woman and, according to reports from the FBI, from January to June of last year conspired with her husband to convince the woman that Trickett had been kidnapped and that the alleged kidnappers were demanding $20,000 in ransom money.
