FAIRMONT —
Around noon Monday, at least three calls were received at Marion County Central Communications about a structure fire at a residential home at 326 Locust Ave.
Officials said no one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
Jim Emerick, Fairmont Fire Department chief, said the fire department responded to the fire and had the scene under control quickly.
“It was under control fairly quickly in the first 10 minutes that we were on scene,” he said.
He said the house was a three-story building with a basement, and the fire started on the first floor in the dining room.
“We believe it was electrical,” he said.
Emerick said there wasn’t a lot of visible damage done to the house.
“There’s a little bit of blistering on the outside wall,” he said.
He said the estimated value of the house was $300,000. Emerick said there was about $100,000 in damages, “mostly smoke and water damage.”
