FAIRMONT —
The projects included in the proposed Marion County school bond have been needed since North Marion High School was built, school officials and volunteers said.
The proposed $10 million bond includes the construction of a stand-alone competition gymnasium in North Marion High School’s lower parking lot area and expansion of the school’s cafeteria and commons areas. The bond election will take place along with the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
Because the School Building Authority of West Virginia will not fund these North Marion High School projects, the Marion County Citizens for the Bond Committee is asking the people to provide the money in order to meet those needs, said Mary Jo Thomas, chair of the committee.
She said the committee is made up of citizen volunteers that are promoting the bond. School personnel who are involved are working on these efforts on their own time.
