FAIRMONT —
Twenty-five students have transfered from two Marion County schools that didn’t make Adequate Yearly Progress this year.
East Park Elementary School failed to achieve the AYP goals under the No Child Left Behind Act for the second year in a row, and Watson Elementary School for the third year. Between the two schools, a total of 34 students applied for transfer — 20 at East Park and 14 at Watson, said Marion County Superintendent of Schools Gary Price.
Out of the 20 applications at East Park, nine chose to stay at the school and 11 transfered to either East Dale Elementary or Pleasant Valley Elementary, he said. Each of the 14 students who applied at Watson ended up transfering to either Jayenne Elementary, Monongah Elementary or Rivesville Elementary/Middle.
