‘Rusty’ DeVito NMHS principal

First female to lead county high school

By Katie Wilson

FAIRMONT — Today will be the first day on the job for North Marion High School’s new principal.

The Marion County Board of Education approved the transfer of Russelle “Rusty” DeVito at its regular meeting Tuesday.

DeVito is the first female high school principal in Marion County history, Superintendent of Schools Tom Deadrick said.

“We were looking for the best person for the job, and she fits the bill,” Deadrick said.

DeVito was one of seven or eight candidates, he said. Some of those came from outside the county, while others were already MCBOE employees.

Until her appointment to the NMHS job, DeVito served as assistant principal at Fairmont Senior High. This leaves that position vacant, and Deadrick said it will be posted today.
