FAIRMONT —
Would you like to attend a “first” in Marion County music circles?
Well, you’ll have that opportunity Saturday when some of the very best accordionists around take the stage at East Fairmont High School for a 7 p.m. concert.
Michael R. Tackash of Fairmont began making plans for this concert last year.
“There should be about 10 accordion players here,” Tackash said. “And that includes Dale Wise, who did a lot to help me get started with this concert.”
Who is Dale Wise?
“I met him because he is an accordion repair man. He had been a band director in Chicago. He invited me to come and play in Baltimore, Virginia and the D.C. area.
“I asked him if it would be possible to have a concert here in Fairmont,” Tackash said about his hometown. “He came here, and he really liked the East Fairmont High School auditorium.
“And because I volunteer myself, all the players decided to come here and play in Fairmont, W.Va.”
