Novelis Recycling Challenge to benefit Habitat for Humanity

FAIRMONT — The Novelis plant in Fairmont is asking for the community’s help with a company-wide Recycling Challenge that will support the Marion County Habitat for Humanity locally.

Nine Novelis sites across the country are competing to collect the most aluminum cans for the Novelis Recycling Challenge, which is taking place throughout the month of September. The company started this annual competition in 2005 as part of its recycling efforts.

“Novelis is very committed to recycling and recycling education,” said Dana Hulme, human resources manager for Novelis in Fairmont.

The company works in aluminum rolled products and leads the world in the recycling of aluminum beverage cans. The number of cans that Novelis recycles annually — about 40 billion — could circle the Earth more than 100 times.
