FAIRVIEW — Superintendent Tom Deadrick officially informed the Marion County Board of Education about a West Fairmont Middle School teacher who is under investigation for throwing a chair and using inappropriate language during class time while students were present.

BOE members discussed the issue during executive session, but did not take any action at Tuesday’s meeting at Fairview Middle School.

Deadrick said that if the BOE needs to take any action, an item will be included in a future agenda.

Neither the teacher’s name nor any reference to the incident were included as part of the BOE’s agenda.

Deadrick said because it is a personnel matter as defined by state law, he would not provide the teacher’s name to the media. He said if any disciplinary action is taken against the teacher, that person’s name would be made public at a future BOE meeting.
