FAIRMONT — The Three Rivers Drug Task Force has been busy working with other local law enforcement agencies in policing drug activity in Fairmont and surrounding areas.
Last week, Fairmont resident Stacy Woods pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to distribution of “crack” cocaine in Shinnston. She is currently free on bond pending sentencing and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $1 million.
Another Fairmont resident, Cheryl Goff, and a Marion, Ind., resident, Steven C. Green, were also sentenced last week by a federal judge for conspiring in “crack” cocaine activity, which included possessing and intending to distribute the drug in October 2008. Goff was sentenced for maintaining a drug-involved premises as well and was sentenced to 262 months in prison to be followed by four years supervised release. She was convicted of conspiring at trial last May on both counts.
Green was convicted at a trial in May as well and sentenced to 97 months in prison to be followed by four years supervised release.
The Three Rivers Drug Task Force, made up of officers from the Fairmont Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, helped investigate both of these cases. The task force also helped investigate the case of 32-year-old Santana Wygant, a Monongahela resident who was sentenced last week for aiding and abetting the distribution of “crack” cocaine within 1,000 feet of a playground.
Wygant was sentenced to 108 months in prison to be followed by six years supervised release in U.S. District Court in Clarksburg.
