Mannington couple dies in fire: VIDEO

One victim calls daughter to tell her they could not escape

MANNINGTON — A fire late Friday night claimed the lives of a Mannington couple.

According to officials on scene, the fire began at a residence on Fairview Street, just off Mannington’s Main Street, around 9:30 p.m.

Fire-rescue personnel were alerted after one of the victims, a woman, called her daughter to tell her that there was a fire in the house and that they could not get out.

Fire-rescue personnel from Marion and Wetzel counties were on scene and worked valiantly for almost two hours to put out the fire.

    Two more targets of “Operation Blue Haze” were apprehended by U.S. Marshals and local police Thursday.
    Bryan Keith Egress, 28, described by United States Marshals as a “dangerous fugitive,” was arrested around midnight Thursday at 1410 Miller St., Fairmont, the residence of his girlfriend.
