FAIRMONT — Due to widespread power outages, Marion County water services are asking citizens to conserve water and providing air-conditioned shelters for people without power.
David Sago, utility manager with the City of Fairmont, said that power has been out at the water pump facility since Friday evening. The city is asking residents to conserve water until further notice. Contact the Water Filtration Plant emergency number at 304-366-1451 with any questions.
The Greater Marion PSD System is also down because of the storm. Residents in its service area, including Idamay, Carolina and Kellytown are asked to conserve water until further notice.
The Marion County Rescue Squad has opened its facilities on 400 Virginia Avenue, Fairmont and Virginia Street, Mannington, to the public as heat shelters. Generators are powering the air-conditioning, so people vulnerable to the heat and without power are encouraged to take advantage of the shelter.
Further advisories will be posted as they become available.
