FAIRMONT —
A fire at Montana Mines early Thursday morning destroyed a home, but firefighters were able to rescue an adjacent home with minimal damage.
According to 911 dispatch logs, the fire was reported around 2:25 a.m. Thursday, with Winfield Volunteer Fire Department arriving on scene within about five minutes.
“It was an old house,” said Assistant Fire Chief Mark Niggemyer.
Specifically, his understanding was that it was a storage building being converted into a home. People were living there at the time.
