FSU set for inauguration of ‘very popular president’

FAIRMONT — When your new president has flowers in her name, it’s not hard to decide on a decorating scheme.

Fairmont State University was abuzz with activity on Friday preparing for today’s inauguration of Dr. Maria Rose as the school’s new president.

Rose was officially selected to serve as president of Fairmont State back in May, though she had been serving as interim president of the college for some time.

Peter Lach, dean of the School of Fine Arts and the inaugural committee chair, said that he and his colleagues are excited to usher Dr. Rose officially into her “new” position.

“She deserves it,” Lach said. “She’s going to be a very popular president.”
