FAIRMONT —
At the Oct. 18 Fairmont State University Board of Governors meeting, a decision to close the business education, computer science education, family and consumer science and school library media programs was approved.
This decision came as a surprise to Pierpont Community & Technical College students, staff and faculty, however.
“I think it took us all by surprise,” Pierpont Community & Technical College Provost Leslie Lovett said after Tuesday’s Pierpont Board of Governors meeting. “Really none of us were aware of this at Pierpont.”
Pierpont partners with FSU in a 2 + 2 program in which students earn their two-year degree in a program of study at Pierpont and then move on to FSU to complete the four-year degree.
The closure of the FSU programs has greatly impacted the ability for some students to do so.

Hearing set for murder suspects

According to records obtained at the Marion County Circuit Court, a hearing for Eddie Jack Washington and Phillip Reese Bush is set for 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, in front of Circuit Judge Michael Aloi. -
