MANNINGTON —
From the parade to the fair, Leah Michael found herself all over Mannington on Monday evening.
While she was out and about, so was the rest of town. Crowds of people lined the sidewalks and the side of the road, anxiously awaiting for a long line of pageant queens and princesses and local sports teams and bands to make the march downtown.
Although she is a kid herself, she enjoyed watching the other local kids.
“The parade was great,” Michael said. “I absolutely loved the parade. Just watching the kids smiling and getting the candy. I thought that was great.”
Local officials handed out candy to the kids. Pageant queens, princesses, and photogenic contest infant winners brought a lot of smiles. Cheers resonated down the street, as North Marion High School cheerleaders and football players went by. Kids on floats smiled, throwing out candy to the local residents watching from the side of the road, like Gabby Conaway.
“I like when they toss out the candy,” she said.
