FAIRMONT — Two accidents that sent two people to Ruby Memorial Hospital kept the Marion County Sheriff’s Department busy Monday.
The first accident was between a Ford pick-up truck and a coal truck around 8 a.m. on U.S. 250 near Deerfield. A spokesman for the sheriff’s department said that when the Ford swerved to avoid hitting a car that was turning onto a nearby road, it crossed the center line and hit the coal truck.
The Ford’s driver, a man from Fairmont, was wearing his seat belt. The sheriff’s department did not release his name and said he was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
No charges were filed in this case.
The second accident was between a 14-year-old boy on a dirt bike who hit a Pontiac Grand Am at about 1:30 p.m. on Paw Paw Creek Road outside Grant Town.
The sheriff’s department said the extent of the boy’s injuries is unknown and that he was flown by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital. The boy was wearing a helmet. The sheriff’s department did not release the boy’s name to the media.
No charges have been filed.
