RIVESVILLE — The tiny town nestled along the banks of the Monongahela River is hosting a summer concert series.
On some Friday and Saturday night, local musicians will be performing free of charge at the riverfront park.
“The objective is to promote the riverfront park and provide entertainment for the citizens of Rivesville and their friends,” said Mayor Ed Mahalick.
“This series will allow the the town to promote its park and share the wonderful property with the citizens of Rivesville and our friends from the county, the state, the country and the world.”
Mahalick said if this concert series is successful, it may become a permanent feature with vendors, maybe even movies.
“If there is enough interest in the summer series, maybe I can convince council and/or county and state representatives to help fund it for next summer and beyond,” Mahalick said.
“Several bands have expressed interest in participating. We would love to have some vendors as well in the future. This could be a great opportunity for raising funds for whatever cause is closest to ones’ heart and or individual profits.”
Roxann Smith attended the concert last week and said, “It was great. The music was exceptional. I hope that everyone continues to come out and enjoy our riverfront and this music series.”
