FAIRMONT — Ah, the warm temperatures of almost spring.
People are smiling. Birds are singing.
Snow is melting.
That may seem like a good thing, but the ground is becoming more and more saturated. Add the precipitation from the rain storm forecast for this weekend, and you’ve got all you need for some high waters.
This has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flood watch for small streams and creeks in Marion and Monongalia counties from tonight through Sunday evening, said Bob Davis, senior forecaster with the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.
This means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts of snow melt and rainfall.
