FAIRMONT —
A recent incident involving an animal attack on East Side has raised concerns among city officials.
Two pit bulls got loose from their home on Reeves Avenue Saturday, which resulted in the killing of one dog and the maiming of another, both of which were on their own properties on Cochran Street.
The incident is currently under investigation, and, according to Lilabeth Crosby of Marion County Animal Control, the pit bulls are being held at the animal-control facility for several days.
“I have concerns from a safety standpoint for our residents and their animals,” City Manager Jay Rogers said. “We need to make sure our law enforcement is doing what they need to do along with the animal rescue in making sure that we are enforcing leash laws and things of that nature to keep people safe.”
