FAIRMONT —
A reportedly empty house on Hollen Circle in Fairmont was heavily damaged by fire Thursday afternoon.
Neighbors said they heard crackling and thumping noises before the residence before the fire was discovered. At one point, the garage was completely engulfed by flames. A plume of smoke was seen from all over the city.
Several units from Fairmont Fire Department, Marion County Rescue Squad and Fairmont Police Department responded.
Officials say most of the damage appeared to be in the garage and main room of the house. No one was home at the time of the fire.
