As the new year approaches, Superintendent of Schools Gary Price has several goals in mind for Marion County Schools in 2013.
“As a general goal, we want to become more efficient as a school system as far as making sure that the programs and things that we use are efficient and effective and fiscally responsible,” he said.
Because of certain state and federal government actions, the county school system could possibly be impacted by reduced income. As a result, Marion County Schools must plan for potential reductions in personnel and ensure that it is spending its money wisely, Price said.
He said what’s most important is delivering instruction and improving student progress. Some schools have earned distinguished awards and keep achieving Adequate Yearly Progress, or AYP.
“We certainly applaud their efforts and support their efforts and we look forward to them continuing on that path,” Price said.
