Array of involvement

Development of interests helps Roger Curry relate to clients

By Mary Wade Burnside

FAIRMONT — For Roger Curry, becoming an attorney was a no-brainer. “It puts you into every kind of life you choose to be in, every kind of social strata, every kind of social setting, every kind of person you choose to deal with,” Curry said.

Curry grew up mostly in Parkersburg and Fairmont because his father worked for the power company and the family moved around. He graduated from Fairmont Senior High School and started college at Fairmont State, where he demonstrated a flair for a variety of interests. He majored in accounting and minored in history, political science and English.

“I loved it up there,” Curry said. “I love to take all the courses — physics and statistics and political science. I had some wonderful professors.”

Not only did Curry manage to finish in time with three minors, but he actually finished up early.

“I was taking 18 to 20 hours a semester,” he said. “It felt lazy to do less than that.”
