FAIRMONT —
A Fairmont man has been arrested by West Virginia State Police and charged with felony failure to register as a sex offender, life registrant.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Marion County Magistrate Court, Victor Lynn Stevens, 47, of 107 Jefferson St., Fairmont, was arrested Jan. 24 by Cpl. J.A. McDougal for having lived in Fairmont since November 2012 without registering as a sex offender, as he is required to do, from a felon conviction of Gross Sexual Imposition of a 13-year-old female minor in Belmont County, Ohio, in January 2007.
According to the complaint, Stevens had allegedly been in and out of medical facilities and lived on the streets in Wheeling, Bridgeport and Fairmont since November 2011.
In January or February 2012, he came to reside in the Union Mission in Fairmont “and/or on the streets” until voluntarily committing himself into United Hospital Center until he was released in November 2012. He returned to the Mission then without registering as a sex offender with the State Police.
If convicted, he faces one to five years in a state correctional facility.
• A Morgantown man was arrested Jan. 24 on two counts of felony daytime burglary.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Marion County Magistrate Court, Johnathan Lee Myers, 21, of (LKA) 2480 Blue Horizon Drive, Morgantown, broke into the same Walnut Avenue residence twice, stealing food on Jan. 11 and a Nintendo Wii on Jan. 19.
