In Washington, D.C., the election cycle is nonstop.
Every two years, one-third of sitting senators and all 435 members of the House have to be re-elected by their constituents, if they choose to throw their hats in the ring again. As soon as someone is elected, the cycle for re-election practically begins when the congressman takes his oath of office.
And every other election cycle coincides with a presidential election, sure to add fuel to partisan fire.
But is this election year any different? With congressional approval ratings in the single digits and a sitting president with the support of about one out of every four voters (late last week, Rasmussen Reports put the daily Presidential Tracking Poll at 23 percent who strongly approve of Barack Obama’s performance), maybe the 2012 election cycle is a little different.

Two more targets of “Operation Blue Haze” were apprehended by U.S. Marshals and local police Thursday.
Bryan Keith Egress, 28, described by United States Marshals as a “dangerous fugitive,” was arrested around midnight Thursday at 1410 Miller St., Fairmont, the residence of his girlfriend. -

Spring paving under way
