Emergency responders accept risks

Willing to put their lives on line to help those needing assistance

FAIRMONT — Emergency responders — whether firefighters, law enforcement officers or paramedics — know their jobs come with a certain amount of risk.

When they get the call about an accident, fire or other type of emergency, they’re the ones who put their lives on the line to help others.

They know each day will be different, but for many, there is one day that stands out: Sept. 11, 2001.

Just ask Capt. Mark Angelucci. He was working that day at the Fairmont Fire Department when he and his co-workers turned on the television just after a jet had crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
