Program designed to help batterers

Marion County Day Report Center is in process of applying

FAIRMONT — The Marion County Day Report Center is in the process of applying for a program to help batterers.

A Batterers Intervention Prevention Program (BIPP) will provide educational services to male and female batterers, said Brandi Corley, case manager at the center.

“It’s mainly for men who have been convicted of domestic battery and domestic assault. They have been sent by the courts to our program,” she said.

The 32-week program will help participants identify hurtful behaviors and provide alternatives to them, she added.

“This is for anyone with abusive or violent behaviors toward their partners.”
