FAIRMONT — A woman was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital following a motorcycle accident on I-79 Wednesday morning.
State Police Sgt. W.S. Crouch said in a statement that 46-year-old Robert R. Kern and his wife, Cynthia D. Kern, both of Hepzibah, were traveling northbound on a Harley Davidson Electra-Glide motorcycle.
At around 10:35 a.m. near the Kingmont Road exit, Robert Kern, who was driving the bike in the right lane, was reportedly cut off by a large, black sport-utility vehicle, possibly a Dodge Durango. When he merged into the left lane, there was a slow-moving construction maintenance vehicle with an arrow directing traffic to the right in front of him. When he attempted to stop so as not to hit the vehicle, his brakes locked up and he slid into it.
