Fairview man killed in single-car accident

FAIRMONT — A local man was killed Tuesday after his vehicle hit a tree in Monongalia County.

Fairview resident Levi McVicker, 20, was traveling westbound on Route 7 close to 6 p.m. Tuesday when his vehicle exited the roadway edge and struck a tree. The car accident occurred toward the western end of Monongalia County near the town of Core, Cpl. James Branham said.

Branham, from the West Virginia State Police’s Morgantown detachment, is the investigating officer on the case, which is still under investigation. He said McVicker was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital and died there later that night.

In addition to state police, Monongalia County EMS and Cassville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
