Kniceley departs Times West Virginian

FAIRMONT — Andy Kniceley, publisher of the Times West Virginian since 1999, is leaving the Fairmont paper to become publisher of the Exponent-Telegram in Clarksburg.

His last day is Friday. Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., the paper’s owner, said a successor will be named soon.

Under Kniceley’s leadership, the Times West Virginian was honored as the West Virginia Press Association Newspaper of the Year for the past seven years, proving his philosophy that “bigger isn’t better; better is better.”

“Andy has been a great leader, providing the kind of leadership to get through tough economic times,” said Frank Wood, CNHI’s senior vice president and division manager for West Virginia. “He is a visionary who positioned this newspaper firmly within the 21st century.”
