FAIRMONT — As the demolition of the 400 block on Adams Street continues, Fairmont inches closer and closer to the construction of the new state building and the potential for increased job opportunities.
“It’s been a long time coming,” said county administrator Kris Cinalli. “We are excited for the demolition phase and construction to begin.”
The state Department of Administration made the decision to close the old West Virginia State Office Complex on the 100 block of Adams Street in February 2009 due to structural issues. Once Marion County acquired the 400 block of Adams Street, and Fairmont’s Reclaim Inc. won the bid to tear it down, plans for the new state building were able to be put into action.
