FAIRMONT —
The Fairmont State University basketball program and new head coach Jerrod Calhoun have landed their man.
Brendan Cooper, a junior college star and one of Calhoun’s top targets since landing the job last month, has officially signed with the Falcons, the school announced on Tuesday.
The 6-7 forward, who will have two years of eligibility remaining at FSU, further bolsters a roster that’s undergone major changes in recent weeks. In all, he is the sixth member of Calhoun’s initial recruiting class.
Cooper, a first-team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) selection for Lakeland (Ohio) Community College last season, averaged 17.5 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals per game for the Lakers in 2011-12. He had 17 double-doubles and was named team MVP at year’s end.
