FAIRMONT — Ask anyone who has ever attended a youth camp, and you’re bound to get a good story or two.
Jerrod Calhoun is no different.
An aspiring college basketball player raised in Ohio, he attended many summer camps as a youngster. But none stuck out — or has stayed with him longer — than a Five Star camp held in Pittsburgh.
“I remember playing at the outdoor courts,” he said. “You start at 7 in the morning when they’re beating on your door to wake you up, and you basically don’t stop until 9 or 10 at night.”
Now as Fairmont State University’s new head men’s basketball coach, Calhoun gets to create memories. That’s certainly been the case at this week’s four-day youth camp held at Joe Retton Arena, which concludes today.
