FAIRMONT —
Even without a full deck, Fairmont State’s men’s basketball team has shown through two games it still knows how to play.
And while the Falcons aren’t about to show their hand, they hope to show fans what they are capable of at full strength at 7:30 p.m. tonight versus visiting WVU Tech.
FSU, now 2-0 after a big road win at Virginia State on Tuesday, is expected to have starting forward Brendan Cooper back in the lineup. The 6-7 junior scored 26 points in the season opener but didn’t see the floor the last time out.
If Cooper plays, it’ll mark the first time he is paired with senior guard Isaac Thornton, who scored 10 points on Tuesday after missing the Falcons’ 127-71 rout of Ohio-Eastern over the weekend.
FSU is seeking its first 3-0 start in three years.
Even without the duo together, FSU has made do just fine offensively.
The Falcons have hit more than half their shots in each game, including going 54 percent (27 of 50) from the field and 62 percent (8 of 13) on 3-pointers in Tuesday’s 72-55 win.
They’ve also spread the wealth, as five players are averaging double figures. Aside from the two projected weapons in Cooper and Thornton, true freshman Stevie Browning is scoring at an 18.0 points-per-game clip, while Isaiah Hill and Malik Stith each average 10.5.
