State Business Court Division getting positive reception
In its first few months of operation, West Virginia’s new Business Court Division is getting a positive reception from the business community.
On Sept. 11, 2012, the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia passed an addition to Trial Court Rule 29 by a 5-0 vote, which established a Business Court Division in the state.
The 10 finalists in the 2012-2013 contest were announced in the first week of December following round two of the competition, which was held Nov. 13 at the Robert H. Mollohan Research Center in Fairmont’s I-79 Technology Park. The statewide contest, in its seventh year, is hosted and funded by the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics.

The Labor Market Information unit of WorkForce West Virginia’s Research, Information and Analysis Division recently published labor force estimates for the state for November 2012.
Marion CVB launches new mobile app
The Convention & Visitors Bureau of Marion County’s new mobile application is showing tourists and area residents what makes the county special.
The “Marion County CVB” app was launched Dec. 5 at Heston Farm Winery in conjunction with the retirement party for longtime executive director Marianne Moran, said new interim director Leisha Elliott.
A group of West Virginia University students recently earned second place in the Taziki’s Collegiate Marketing Challenge, and gained hands-on, real-world experience through the process.
