FAIRMONT —
B&B Wireless, a family business, is excited about bringing its services to Fairmont.
This nTelos Wireless retail phone store just opened at 1005 Fairmont Ave., beside Tuscan Sun Spa and Salon and across from Mandy’s Artworks. It is located in the same building as Stover Insurance Agency.
Owner Brad Weaver said the shop had a soft opening about a week ago to celebrate with family and friends. The business then held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony with the community and dignitaries on June 28.
B&B Wireless, which is privately owned, is considered an nTelos exclusive retail provider and will be the first store of its kind in West Virginia, he said. nTelos is a dealer for Apple’s iPhone, so the store carries iPhones as well as a variety of other smartphones and accessories.
“Now cellphones are more of a necessity than a luxury,” Weaver said.
He said customers can get family phone plans, including an option with unlimited talk, text and data, and nationwide coverage with no roaming charges through nTelos. This regional phone company offers competitive pricing and plans.
Weaver, who is originally from Harrison County and now lives in Barrackville, decided to establish B&B Wireless because he saw the continual growth of the wireless and technology industry and believed a nice opportunity existed for him and his family.
He and his wife Betty, who was raised in Marion County most of her life, have one son and four daughters between the ages of 27 and 15. Their five kids, Christopher, Kari, Bethany, Lauren and Emily, will all play a role in B&B Wireless. Two employees also help run the business.
A local contractor spent about three weeks doing a major renovation of the building where B&B Wireless is located, and the space now looks completely different, Weaver said. He is proud of the fact that he has used almost all Marion County businesses for the store’s needs.
He said the shop has a great location that is very visible. People have been stopping by the business to look around, and several iPhones have already been sold.
Weaver has been working in sleep medicine since 2000. He is part-owner of Fairmont’s Positive Sleep Solutions, which opened at 900 Fairmont Ave. in 2008. He is also director of operations for Sleep Network of West Virginia, which has a sleep lab in Morgantown.
Weaver said he enjoys working with people and has met a lot of nice individuals working in business.
“I’ve always been a people person,” he said.
B&B Wireless is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 681-753-5000.
